Workshops

Walks last approximately three hours, with groups no larger than 12 participants, and look at a range of wild plants and fungi that are in season. We will discuss identification, possible look-a-likes including similar poisonous and toxic plants or mushrooms. With everyday use in mind, we will discuss how to cook foods as well as how to store them. We also look at how to forage mindfully and become caretakers of the environment. As such, so not to put undue pressure on the ecosystem, group courses do not include collection of ingredients, although we will taste edible plants.

Depending on the interests of each group on the day, I tailor walks to focus on the skill level and interests of participants. No two walks are alike!

People of all ages are welcome on walks - children particularly are excellent at spotting different species. Ensuring walks are accessible is particularly important to me, and locations have been chosen with this in mind. If you have any particular requirements please do get in touch and I would be happy to advise on which route will meet your needs, and make any alterations to help you attend.

Workshop Locations

My local workshops take place in Almondell and Beecraigs Country Park, meeting outside the visitor centres. Pre-booking is essential, as places on each course are limited.

Or, join me on Colonsay for the Food and Spring Festivals, where you have the opportunity to explore a unique location and microclimate through the lens of foraging.

Private workshops are flexible to suit your interests, with a location selected to meet your needs.
